Funding
I am seeking $10,000 USD for production.
As much as I'd like to get a bunch of $2 bills from the banks fill up a pool, and cannonball into it like Scrooge McDuck so I can pay for plane tickets in cold hard cash, this money will be put into an account so here's where your money is going:
$5,000 is going to equipment and crew
-
A second camera. As technology has gotten better, I've still been shooting with the same DSLR.
-
I've been borrowing sound equipment, I really need some of my own because with this story, I need to be ready to shoot at all times when Keegan and I are in Minnesota and it takes away from the production quality if I have to use in camera sound from my DSLR.
-
Lighting. I require better lighting. For now I've been using natural light and keeping the subject in the shade, or inside and using the window as a light source. A 3 point softbox system would make my life a lot easier for interviews.
-
Miscelaneous items such as mounts–for example, a slider– (my vision is to make this as cinematically and aesthetically pleasing with creative shots as possible), XLR cords, extra batteries, extra SD cards, and an emergency fund incase of equipment malfunction.
-
Sometimes I need an assistant or other crew, but most of the time I don't. In those cases where compensationg other professionals is necessary, funds would be used from this part of the budget.
$5,000 is going to travel
NHL prospects travel a lot, and I'm trying to keep the budget as low as possible. Thankfully I have friends in different cities that will allow me to stay on their couch or in their guest room.
The goal is to have the audience see behind the scenes at:
-
The draft in Philadelphia
-
Summer classes, training, social life and home life in Minnesota
-
Games in the US and Canada
-
School and the host family home in Portland
-
I also will have $1,000 set aside for last minute travel to wherever his first NHL game is. Sometimes people get called signed the day before, and I need to be ready. Otherwise if he signs in a summer period and is set up for the first game of the season, flights will be planned far in advance and extra money will go to the promotion and post production budget
What are you going to do if you exceed your goal for donations?

Step 1: Do a backflip! I'm not kidding, I will stand up–after either fainting or dropping to one knee and fist pumping like I scored an Overtime winner in the Stanley Cup Finals– and do a backflip. In fact, one of the rewards on the Indiegogo page is a video of me thanking you personally, then doing a backflip just for you! You should invest in the film!
-
Step 2: Put the money away and use it for post production and promotion
