Carter became passionate about sports broadcasting his freshman at Bethany Lutheran College when he was chosen as Color Commentator for College Hockey Weekend–the official broadcast of Minnesota State, Mankato Men's Hockey. In addition to calling games with a viewership between 5 and 12 Million, he produced, wrote, and edited packages for the intermission show, and wrote and recorded pre-game teases.

College Hockey Weekend received a Student EMMY from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Midwest Chapter for the best Live Sports Event.

Since transferring to Baylor University, he has endeavored to learn through intrrviews with several national play-by-play and television hosts.

In the fall of 2014, Carter will be producing, editing, and on camera in conjunction with the Baylor Lariat for an online segement that gives behind the scenes access to student athletes demonstrating the ins and outs of their sport.

In addition to sports reporting and broadcasting, Carter can often be found at his desk working on graphic design projects; or with a camera in hand, taking photos or videos for freelance and personal projects.

He is currently in the third year of production on a documentary that follows an elite hockey player on his journey from Minnesota high school hockey to the NHL.
